Responsibilities

-Provides customer service by resolving problems in response to customer reported issues and incidents.

-Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and software.

-Serves as a network manager with the primary responsibility for continued operation of network, integration of all systems across the network, and upgrade of the network to accommodate new technological innovations.

-Serves as the IT security manager and virus control manager.

-Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems, security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree -OR- 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree -OR- 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service.

EDUCATION:

Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

3. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

DEFINITION OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:

Experience providing advanced PC customer support to users to include technical support, troubleshooting, recovering, installing, testing, and configuring of hardware and software systems. Experience mitigating security vulnerabilities and risks.

Education

-This position has been designated as a Public Trust (Moderate Risk) position. This requires a higher-level MBI investigation. This investigation will include a background search of your employment, law enforcement, and credit/financial records. You must successfully obtain and maintain this investigation level as a condition of employment. You will be required to undergo and successfully pass a reinvestigation of your background every 5 years.

Category rating and selection procedures will be used for evaluating this position.
