About the Position:
This position is located with the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP), Depot Operations Directorate in McAlester, Oklahoma. MCAAP was originally commissioned as the Naval Ammunition Depot McAlester on May 20, 1943 and began its first production in September 1943. In October 1977, the naval facility was transferred to the Army under the Single Manager for Conventional Ammunition Act. MCAAP is a government-owned/government-operated facility. Our operating hours are from 6:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. We are closed on federal holidays. The mission of MCAAP is to produce and renovate quality conventional missile ammunition and ammunition-related components, perform engineering and product assurance in support of production, and receive, store, ship, demilitarize and dispose of conventional and missile ammunition and related items.

Lead a number of employees independently in accomplishing trades and labor work associated with Motor Vehicle Operating (Material Handling).
Operate gasoline or diesel powered trucks, truck tractors with trailers, and semi-trailers coupled by the use of a turn-table (fifth wheel) or pintle (pivot hook).
Load and unload cargo using electric, diesel, or gasoline powered forklifts and arranging it in pre-determined locations.
Reconcile cargo that has been loaded or delivered against manifests and other transport documents to certify the quantity and condition of the cargo.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator (Materials Handler) Leader without more than normal supervision. giving directions to a number of employees in accomplishing trades and labor work associated with Motor Vehicle Operating (Material Handling). Passing on to other workers instructions received from the supervisor, and start the work by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group lead. Leading employees performing the majority of the following duties under close supervision: Operating gasoline or diesel powered trucks; operating trucks equipped with transmissions of four or more forward speeds; operating trucks equipped with air brakes; driving trucks over improved roads, and through congested areas exercising caution when backing to load or unload cargo; loading and unloading cargo using pallet jacks; and verifying pick-up and delivery receipts. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Work requires moderate physical effort in reaching, bending, turning or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls especially when backing vehicles and in the frequent handling of heavier objects while loading cargo with the assistance of other workers and weight climbing on tractors to hook up service lines. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tire and to make limited temporary.
Works mostly outside and operator vehicles in all kinds of traffic and weather on public roads (or the equivalent), and are exposed to the danger of serious accidents. They drive in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems. Drivers are exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
