Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) is seeking a dynamic, innovative and creative candidate with a focus on delivering premier customer service with innovate ideas and solutions to fill the position of Deputy Director for Information Technology (DDIT) with the Office of Information Resources (OIR) located in Glen Burnie, Maryland.   The selected candidate for the DDIT will provide leadership with a combination of functional expertise, leading people, and managing changes for key portfolio of activities, through subordinate supervisors, including but not limited to; Software Development, Information services and Web development, Project Development, Quality Management and Information Security.  This position is accountable for the strategic planning, technology review, enterprise architecture, IT standards, customer engagement, modernization of existing technology, development and maintenance of over 220 applications and 44 Databases in operation while providing premium customer support.
Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Business Management, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or other information technology-related field to include course work in information security and project management.

 Six  (6) years of management or supervisory experience in information technology involving at least two (2) of the following areas: project management, software development or Business Intelligence.

  Demonstrated ability to provide principled leadership, to establish a culture of accountability and to participate effectively as a member of a collaborative senior leadership team. Demonstrated experience in Information Technology project planning, budgeting, software development, Security, and Information and data management. Demonstrated experience leading teams of managers and staff toward an inclusive workplace that fosters the development of others, facilitates cooperation and teamwork, and supports constructive resolution of conflicts. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal and external business partners. Demonstrated experience working with and managing vendors to provide value to the organization. Experience in Information Technology Management and strategies to pragmatically move technology from ideas to implementations. A focused concern for consistently improving the end-user experience. Experience with Information Technology Service Management (ITSM, ITIL, COBIT, etc.) best practices and principles, lean processes, and process improvement.

1.  Applicants may substitute graduate education in computer science or in directly related fields on a year-for-year basis for up to two (2) years of the required experience.

2.  Applicants may substitute additional management or supervisory experience as defined above at the rate of six months of experience for one year of education for the required college education. 

3.  U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and general experience on a year-for-year basis.
