Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist
As Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist, you will direct and supervise the technical services for the Special Procedures section and programs that support this complex tertiary care facility as well as VA satellite clinics in the surrounding communities, the incumbent will have the ability to identify and implement methods for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of performing these services.

Inventory Control: Ensures that adequate quantities of Interventional supplies are available to meet workload demands through a systemized process of ordering, receipt and inventory control, assists in determining costs for specific exams and projecting costs for budgetary purposes, recommends methods and products to reduce costs and/or increase quality and efficiency;
Technologist Staff/Scheduling: Determines staffing requirements based on past, present, and future workload patterns and develops the weekly/monthly schedules as well as call schedules, coordinates and approves leave requests to maintain optimal staffing levels, provides advice, counsel and instructions to employees, both technical and administrative;
Staffing Training: Responsible for the training of new technologists in Interventional Radiology; in the performance of procedures specific to that modality and organization practices of the specific unit;
Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Coordinates repairs and installation of Interventional Radiology Equipment;
Clinic Scheduling: Coordinates with scheduling concerning appointment scheduling in determining the maximum number of procedures which can be performed in a designated time frame;
Confers with Interventional radiologists to determine standard requirements for performance of a wide variety of interventional procedures;
Directs and participates in on-call coverage of Interventional Radiology, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week;
Prepares formal requests and recommendations for promotion, reassignments, and other status changes, or recognition of outstanding performance of assigned employees;
Receives formal grievances, resolving those that can be resolved at the first, full supervisory level;
Responsible for yearly performance appraisals and annually reviews the functional statement and the performance standards on all employees under his/her supervision.

* Certification. All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R). Advanced ARRT certification is required for Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Advanced certification indicates that the technologist has demonstrated specific clinical competency in the appropriate specialty and taken and passed the designated examination.
* Education. Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months duration (or the equivalent) in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate's degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from schools accredited by the ARRT and certification by the ARRT in radiology.
Credentialing Standards. Public Law 97-35, the Consumer-Patient Radiation Health and Safety Act of 1981, requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75, Standards for the Accreditation of Educational Programs and the Credentialing of Radiographic Personnel. Essentially, they must have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and be certified as radiographers in their field.
Physical: Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. See VA Directive and Handbook 5019.
* English Language Proficiency. DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).
