Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to review and reconcile various types of pay and leave transactions involving Title 38, Title V and Federal Wage System (FWS) pay and leave systems and special salary tables such as Title 38 physicians, registered nurses, physician assistants; Hybrid Title 38; Title V and FWS transactions in the VA PAID and Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) automated accounting systems and instruct users, timekeepers and supervisors in procedures. Provides customer service in person, on the phone, and via email. Generates and reviews a variety of pay and leave reports. Analyzes the personnel transaction data received for transmittal and enters data into multiple systems. Audits timekeeper's timecard records for appropriate posting in accordance with government regulations and for training received. Uses multiple automated systems including the local timekeeping system in VISTA. The enhanced Time and Attendance System in VISTA is used to create and process employee timecards. Accesses DFAS Remedy and requests information from DFAS. Uses MIAP to code federal taxes, direct deposits, allotments, Combined Federal Campaign changes and process timecards to pay employees.

Work Schedule: 8 am - 4:30 pm

Work Environment: Work is performed in an adequately lighted and ventilated office environment and exercises normal safety precautions. There is a high level of stress due to demanding deadlines and the need for a high degree of accuracy.

Such tasks would be related to payroll processing and review; timekeeping/timecard maintenance/processing, review, and training; handling pay issues and correction of employee coding errors, deductions for taxes and benefits; and miscellaneous duties in support of payroll functions.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).
