Duties Summary Mission Statement The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), through its Community Strategic Plan has made a commitment to be among the world's leaders in education, enriching the lives of military- connected students and the communities in which they live. DoDEA is a major Department of Defense (DoD) Field Activity with worldwide scope. DoDEA plans, directs, coordinates, and manages the education programs for DoD dependents. DoDEA consists of three regions, DoDEA Americas, DoDEA Europe, and DoDEA Pacific and a total of eight school districts located overseas and in the U.S.and its territories. DoDEA provides education to eligible DoD military and civilian dependents from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. In accordance with the Delegated Examining Unit Handbook, Chapter 6-A-10, this position is restricted to preference eligibles only. Responsibilities As a Custodial Worker Leader at the WL-3566-2 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as a working leader of 3 or more Custodial Workers. Responsible for ensuring work is complete, standards are enforced and requirements are met Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, delays or overall work operations and problems Maintain an inventory of materials and supplies needed in performance of custodial duties Sweep, mop, strip, scrub, wax and polish floors Adjusts, changes and performs minor maintenance on buffers, brushes and other attachments on power equipment Dusts, waxes and polishes office furniture, table tops, desks, chairs, lighting fixtures, windows, window ledges, and woodwork Polishes brass and metal surfaces, washes windows, glass surfaces and fixtures, walls and empties wastebaskets Maintains restrooms in clean and sanitary condition Cleans and maintains walls, carpets and ceiling surfaces Provides snow and ice removal from entry steps, landings, and walkways to buildings Unlocks and locks doors to main entranceways, classrooms, restrooms, outdoor storage facilities, portable classrooms, and office doors Cleans natural debris, trash, and dirt from parking areas, sidewalks, curbs, ramps and pathways Activates and deactivates alarm systems Travel Required Not required Supervisory status No Promotion Potential 2 Job family (Series) Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. citizen Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service Resume and supporting documents (See How To Apply) Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt Financial Disclosure: Not Required Telework Eligibility: This position is NOT telework eligible Qualifications Per OPM Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations, the applicant's experience, education and training must show enough knowledge, skills and abilities to demonstrate the potential to successfully perform the duties of the position. Other Notes: Physical Effort: Occasionally uses heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., industrial type buffers). Occasionally exerts moderately heavy physical effort such as that required in lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds, requiring continuous standing, bending, stooping and reaching . Requires working on ladders\/scaffold in the performance of some duties. Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions. Care must be taken to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and scaffolds or when using heavy powered equipment.
