The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) enforces a variety of federal antitrust and consumer protection laws. The Commission seeks to ensure that the nation's markets function competitively and are vigorous, efficient, and free of undue restrictions. The Commission also works to enhance the smooth operation of the marketplace by eliminating acts or practices that are unfair or deceptive. Finally, the Commission undertakes economic analysis to support its law enforcement efforts and to contribute to the policy deliberations of the Congress, the Executive Branch, other independent agencies, and state and local governments when requested

If selected for this position you will perform the following duties:
•Assist higher-level attorney staff members with research on legal issues for assigned projects, including research on relevant case law, legal and economic databases, reports, and other materials.
•Review, proof, and format Commission opinions, memoranda prepared for the Commission, and other written work products in accordance with rules and established Commission procedures.
•Coordinate with other OGC offices to review confidentiality of materials in a timely manner.
•Handle all aspects of the day-to-day management of the Unit and other OGC units as assigned, including, but not limited to, the preparation and monitoring of time and attendance records, organizing and maintaining files, ordering supplies, and assisting with travel arrangements.

In order to qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Government.
Examples of qualifying experience include:
Conducting legal research by locating information such as cases, statutes, legal and economic academic literature, and other relevant materials from files, libraries, computerized databases, and the Internet, reporting orally and in writing on the results of such research for inclusion in memoranda, opinions, briefs, speeches, and similar documents, reviewing and maintaining information, including case materials, that may be very sensitive and confidential in nature,
preparing and monitoring time and attendance records, organizing and
maintaining files, ordering supplies, and assisting with travel arrangements.
OR You must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR br />LL.B. or J.D., if related.
