Summary
A vacancy exists within Patient Business Service at the Dayton VAMC. This position is responsible for carrying out a variety of health information functions. The incumbent performs duties related to the receipt, scanning, indexing, and transfer of health and administrative information. The incumbent is also responsible for determining eligibility status for Beneficiary Travel mileage reimbursement and completing travel vouchers.

Duties include but are not limited to:
Administrative Support:
Determines Veteran eligibility status for Beneficiary Travel mileage reimbursement and completing travel payment vouchers.
Responds to patient needs.
Responsible for timely and accurate receipt of patient telephone contacts.
Scanning and Indexing:
Carries out a variety of health information functions.
Performs duties related to the receipt, scanning, indexing, and transfer of health and administrative information.
Responsible for disposition of documents when established records are unavailable.
Maintains a daily productivity log of scanning and indexing activities and provides to the supervisor.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Part-time, 39 hours per week.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/15/2018.
Basic Qualifications:
* To be eligible, applicants must be accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis as defined by the institution in which you are enrolled.
* Applicants must hold at least a 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) GPA.
* Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen
Physical Requirements:
Work primarily occurs in an office setting, at a workstation. However, there is some walking, standing, reaching, stooping, crawling, crouching, carrying of light items, 25 pounds or less, and negotiating cramped working areas. The mental demands and stress of work can be considered. Incumbent must frequently deal with other medical center personnel or patients who may be uncooperative or hostile due to circumstantial pressures. Incumbent is required to display tact, calm, and patience as well as work in an analytical, professional and helpful manner regardless of circumstances.
Grade Determination:
GS-04: Completion of at least 2 full academic years of post high school study

Failure to submit proof of enrollment will result in ineligibility for further consideration for this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Within 120 calendar days after successfully completing degree or certificate requirements, the employing agency may non-competitively promote and convert a student to a career/career-conditional or term appointment. The conversion is not guaranteed and is based on the needs of the agency. You must have completed at least 640 hours of work experience or 320 hours of work experience if the student demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and exceptional job performance.
