This MACHINIST position, is located in the Aircraft Metals Technology Shop, Fabrication Section of the Field Maintenance Branchand is part of the CA 129 RQW, National Guard.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).

THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED PERMANENT POSITION
The primary purpose of the MACHINIST, WG-3414-10/11, is to perform machining operations and
welding to accomplish the manufacture and repair of aircraft components, tools, equipment, parts, and special tools.
Non-DMOS/DAFSC applicants are encouraged to apply for the positions if experience is held. A two year compatibility waiver MAY be obtained.
May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Priority Areas(s) of Consideration:
AREA I= Current California National Guard technicians who are serving on a Permanent/Indefinite/Temporary dual status appointment.
AREA II= Current California National Guard members.
AREA III= Current military members of the Air Force/Army National Guard, Air Force/Army Reserve or Air Force/Army Active Duty. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment.)

Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to National Guard Bureau approval.
Relocation Costs MAY BE authorized subject to provisions of the Joint Travel Regulation and an agency determination that a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is in the Government's best interest.
Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance.
Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.
Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
General Experience: Must possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with a basic knowledge of machining processes and the ability to use drill presses, shapers, planers and other types of associated machine tools.
MACHINIST, WG-3414-WG-10 (trainee): Must have at least 18 months experience or training performing the full range of machining operations on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments; Experience or training in planning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings that may have missing or incorrect information; Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions, such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locating and marking surfaces and angles to be machined; Skill in programming machining operations, setting up and operating CNC machine tools; Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mathematics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make computation for laying out work, machining pieces at unusual or compound angles, determining gear ratios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension.
MACHINIST, WG-3414-WG-11: In addition to the WG-10 experience, must have experience determining reparability of damaged machine parts, tools, and aircraft components; experience training lower graded machinists.
TRAINEE POSITION: Applicants not meeting full qualifications for the WG-11 position indicated above may be considered for WG-10 trainee, if qualified. Statement-of-Difference of qualification requirements for each are indicated. If appointed as trainee, the selectee may be non-competitively promoted to WG-11 upon meeting full qualifications and recommendations of supervisor.
