Come join our team as an engineering specialist intern in Corvallis through our popular College Internship Program. In this role you will perform inspection, survey, and office duties to gain valuable work experience.
The College Internship Program is designed to allow students matriculating through an accredited post-secondary program the opportunity to gain practical experience. We are accepting applications from students in accredited degree programs and those who have recently graduated (within the past two years) with their associates, bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree. There are two internships available in Corvallis.

The length of this assignment will be up to 1,040 hours depending on workload.

Duties & Responsibilities
Work as a construction inspector and as a member of a survey crew for highway construction projects.
Interpret contract plans and specifications for construction projects.
Inspect and document work performed by contractors.
Perform checks on quality and quantity of materials.
Address inconsistencies with contractors.
Assist with construction survey work.
Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills
Must be a college student studying civil engineering, construction engineering management, or a related field whose freshman year will be completed by June 2018. Recent college graduates (within the last two years) in these fields are also invited to apply.
Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).

Course work and/or work experience in civil engineering or construction management.

Ability to work varying work shifts, commonly at night, in adverse weather conditions.
Demonstrated history of punctual attendance.
Ability to work well with coworkers and function appropriately in adversarial situations.
70% of work occurs outdoors. Remaining work occurs in an office environment.
Varying work shifts, with more night than day shifts.
Work requires walking multiple miles during a shift and hiking steep terrain.
Possible overnight travel for weeks at a time.
Overtime and some weekend work, mostly on Sunday evenings.
Exposure to heavy equipment and traffic.
