Summary
The primary purpose of the position is to perform both clinical and administrative duties in support of the mission of the Audiology Service at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System Las Vegas Nevada.
The Audiology Section includes the Main Hospital Audiology Clinic and multiple telehealth sites which are geographically separated.

Responsibilities
The incumbent is a team member of the Audiology Service at the VA SNHCS Medical Center. The Audiology Service has responsibility for providing the full range of major clinical programs including Audiology, vestibular evaluation and management, tinnitus management, compensation and pension examinations, cerumen management, TBI, hearing conservation and telehealth. The Audiology Service VA SNHCS Medical Center has also been designated as an independent hearing aid program. The incumbent is responsible for patient care, local management of the national hearing aid program; hearing aid related health care, assistance to staff, and patient education. The position has a high degree of visibility throughout the medical center and the public because of direct patient care contacts within the veteran population, many of whom are severely disabled. Professionalism, proficiency and a high positive image on behalf of the Veteran's Health Administration are critical and required.
The incumbent must produce self-directed and independent work in cooperation with coworkers, doctors, nurses, administrators, students, volunteers and other members of the health care team per service and facility policies. Desirable qualities include positive leadership, value-driven, punctuality, tolerance, service-orientation, humanness, observance, humility and excellent communication abilities.
Assumes an active role in the audiology clinic and is responsible for coordination of patient, paperwork, and prosthetic flow for the staff audiologists through management of prosthetic inventory, schedules, clinical preparation and other duties necessary to clinical function for all Audiology and Tele-audiology clinics. Also, provides technical assistance to the staff to facilitate efficient service delivery.
Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Time-In-Grade Requirement
: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. (If you have not held a GS grade at any time in the past 52 weeks, this question does not apply to you.) For this vacancy, applicants must have held a grade of GS- 04, 05, 06 higher for at least a year to be eligible for the GS - 05, 06, or 07 grade level of this position. The grade must have been held in the Federal service but may have been in any occupation.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
* Specialized Experience:
FOR THE GS-5
Do you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-04 grade level, related to the duties of this position. Specialized experience may include, but may not be limited to: hearing aid orientation, follow-up, troubleshooting and repair, and modification; electro-acoustic evaluation; tracking of repair items; hearing aid and ear mold certification and tracking; supply orders and management; clinic data management; specialized scheduling and coordination of special clinics and record management.
OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-05 level. The education must be a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses directly related to the position.
OR
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-05 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-05. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position.
* FOR THE GS-6
Do you possess at least one one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Experience in a Medical Setting and knowledge of performing the full range of routine and non-routine Health Technician assignments with a high level of independence and/or treatment procedures related to patient care and treatment within the Health Technician (Hearing) Audiology specialization.
OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-06 level. The education must be one full year of related graduate level education OR superior academic achievement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education: A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
FOR THE GS-7
Do you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of hearing aid, assistive devices, diagnostic equipment, software programs, and complex procedures of the specialization to perform advanced diagnostic. Knowledge of the anatomy of the auditory vestibular system including an in-depth understanding of the functioning of this system.
OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-07 level. The education must be one full year of related graduate level education OR superior academic achievement. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Physical Requirements:
