Want to work for a contemporary water management agency whose mission is to assist in meeting the increasing water demands of the West while protecting the environment and the public's investment? Join the staff of the Bureau of Reclamation as Hydroelectric Power Plant Operator Relief, Senior. Be involved in the operations of major water resources infrastructures by operating and monitoring generators, pumps, equipment and various plant and water conveyance systems to control water releases needed to maintain plant functions, river flows and municipal water requirements.

Responsibilities

The Senior Control Operator is in charge and responsible for the safety and operation of all project facilities during other than normal working hours and when project management is absent. May be subject to changes to schedule with short notice and be required to work different schedules during a normal pay period.

-Acts as an Operations supervisor, authorizing and coordinating maintenance activities; this includes authorizing and issuing Clearances, Hot Line Orders, Special Conditions, Operational Configuration Management, and Interconnected System Clearances.

-Administers operational tests on electrical and mechanical equipment.

-Evaluates and analyzes operating interruptions and diagnoses cause.

-Mitigates actual or potential damage to facilities and threats to personal safety during emergency situations.

-Provides technical direction to Control Operators by way of example and direct instruction.

Conditions of Employment:

-Successful adjudication of personnel security investigation required.

-Operation of a government vehicle is required; therefore, you must possess and maintain a valid State's driver's license.

-Satisfactory completion of a medical examination is required before assignment to the position.

-Work is indoors and outside, subject to prevailing weather and terrain. Employee works in the vicinity of energized and high voltage sources and moving equipment.

-Frequent lifting, carrying, and handling of items weighing up to 50 pounds is required.

-Requires availability for various shifts (days, evenings, weekends, holidays) on a rotating, on-call, or emergency basis. Work schedules of a Relief worker are subject to change with short notice during a pay period.

-All Federal employees are required by PL 104-134 to have federal payments made by direct deposit.

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
