THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0324000and is part of the NC ANG, National Guard (145 MXS/ Positions 1071681, 1071700, 1071676, 1071675).

Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Responsibilities

As a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-5378-10, you will be responsible for the interpretation of manufacturer drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and test procedures to troubleshoot, calibrate, align and repair highly complex pieces of powered support equipment; troubleshoot repair, adjust and align down-sized powered support equipment; use sophisticated testers, such as analyzers, digital meters, oscilloscopes and other measuring devices to determine repair requirements; correct unusual maintenance problems by interpreting technical data such as tables, charts, formulas, color codes, wiring diagrams, and schematic symbols; do circuit analyses, consider integrated circuit relationship, and apply electronic principles in order to fault-isolate and repair the various digital devices contained in powered support equipment; perform inspections, preventative maintenance, servicing, repair and adjustment on complex rotary diesel engines; determine work sequences, specifications, and special procedures to be used to fault-isolate and repair unusual problems in powered support equipment; conduct classes to train maintenance personnel in operations, test procedures, and troubleshooting requirements of powered support equipment; perform intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment and non-powered AGE; work on cryogenic equipment, engine and generator changes, remove, repair, and overhaul accessories, and rebuild units; remove and replace of crankshafts, pistons, and other integrated parts; replace, check and adjust valves, bearings, cams, clutches, bushings, springs, armatures, pushrods, exhaust manifolds, tubing, hose and defective wiring; diagnose gas turbine malfunctions; make repairs, remove, disassemble and assemble components and sub-systems; diagnose gas turbine malfunctions; make repairs, remove, disassemble and assemble components and sub-systems; troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, and modify and operate aerospace ground equipment such as AC and DC power generators, internal combustion engines, air compressors, blowers, hydraulic test stands, cabin leakage testers, portable diesel engine driven generators, emergency lighting units, deicers, heaters, load banks, hydrostatic testers, cryogenic carts, decontamination units, thermal bath, vacuum pumps, flow meters, lavatory service trailers, air conditioners and non-power support equipment; perform corrosion control duties such as inspections, cleaning, stripping, sanding, priming and painting of AGE; perform inspections, calibration and repair on test and shop equipment; perform maintenance data collection; maintain Technical Orders, Technical Order files, commercial publications and other directives; submit Technical Order Improvement Reports, Material Deficiency Reports and suggestions; ensure that all waste products are properly disposed of and the effective waste minimization process are used; prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluation; perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operator, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies; participate and assist in conducting the safety program for the Aerospace Ground Equipment activity; perform other duties as assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
