THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (Title 32), Position Description Number D2259000 and is part of the IL 183 WG, National Guard.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:

\tPlan and schedule specific work assignments on a daily or project-by-project basis within specified time requirements.
\tArrange for adequate personnel, materials, and equipment to accomplish the work.
\tAssign tasks to be performed by subordinates.
\tExplain prescribed methods and procedures and instruct subordinates on new procedures and provide assistance on problems.
\tReview work in progress and upon completion and offer feedback.
\tObtain approval from supervisor for changes in standard or prescribed procedures and changes in work operations.
\tSuggest ways or methods to improve operations and/or reduce costs.
\tRecommend individuals to fill vacancies or for promotion or reassignment.
\tAssist in the establishment of performance standards and makes recommendations for performance appraisals.
\tCounsel employees on disciplinary issues and recommend disciplinary actions.
\tAttempt to resolve informal complaints and grievances, referring unresolved or more serious issues to supervisor.
\tConduct on-the-job training and recommend employees for formal training programs.
\tSchedule leave and approve leave for short periods of time.
\tEncourage employees to participate in suggestion or cost reduction programs.
\tEnsure that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed.
\tExplain and implement such personnel programs as equal opportunity, position management, position description review, and labor relations.
\tPerform supervisory functions of assigned organizational segment.
\tImplement safety regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
\tEnsure that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
\tMaintain the production of required reports and records.
,qualifications:AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence,

\tThe FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians in the Springfield Air National Guard at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport
\tThe SECOND area of consideration will be all members of the Illinois Air National Guard.
\tThe THIRD area of consideration will be all those eligible for membership in the Illinois Air National Guard.

Military Grades: Enlisted Not to Exceed MSgt.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must possess experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-09 Level - Must possess specialized experience for the WS-09 Level, which includes at least 36 months experience or training involving performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories; and experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft; experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis. Specialized Supervisory Experience: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, applicant must possess experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel; experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function; experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes; and experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
