About the Position:

This position is located in the Directorate of Industrial Operations, Ground Equipment and Missile Systems Division, Cable/Harness Branch, at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA. NOTE: This is a term appointment NTE 13 Months and it may be extended up to total of 6 years. Contingent to specific conditions there may be an opportunity to be noncompetitively converted to a career-conditional or career appointment.

Responsibilities

Fabricates and/or repairs a variety of complex wiring harnesses used in electronic fire control systems. Searches for data concerning new or modified versions of the equipment and performs continuity and insulation tests. Directs, instructs, and reviews work of lower grade employees and is responsible for completion of specific assignments.

Occasional travel - Business Travel is up to 5%.

Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.

Pre-Employment and annual Physical Required.

Must be willing to work any shift and any tour of duty.

Business Travel is up to 5%.

Other Requirements: Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

One year trial/probationary period may be required.

Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination.

Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.

This is a Career Program (CP) 17 position.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrical Equipment Repairer~ without more than normal supervision. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

In addition to the screen out element, applicants will be rated against the following elements:

Physical Effort: There is frequent lifting and carrying parts and harnesses, which may weigh up to 20 pounds. There are prolonged periods of standing, stooping, and bending.

Working Conditions: Works in well lighted and heated areas. Subject to cuts while fabricating harnesses and electrical shock or burns while soldering, attaching connectors and performing tests. There is a possibility of falls while working from step ladders.
