Gathers, compiles and releases information using a computer, prepare reports and review and verify information in a variety of departments.
Equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of experience performing medical records functions or possess a minimum coding credential of Certified Coding Associate (CCA).
Some positions may require Notary Public in the State of Nevada.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
Office theories and principles; Basic knowledge of terminology and procedures related to area of assignment; Basic knowledge of policies, laws and regulations governing area of assignment; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and procedures; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Gathering, compiling and presenting data; Preparing technical reports; Reviewing and checking documents to ensure completeness and accuracy; Performing mathematical computations;
Paying attention to detail and accuracy; Using computers and related software applications;
Using office equipment such as phones, copiers and facsimiles; Communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard equipment, stamina to remain seated and/or stand for extended periods of time, strength to retrieve and store files, vision to read printed materials and VDT screens, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
