Summary

Want to work for a contemporary water management agency whose mission is to assist in meeting the increasing water demands of the West while protecting the environment and the public's investment? Join the staff of the Bureau of Reclamation as an Equipment & Facilities Maintenance Planner. Capitalize on your expertise to plan and schedule the repair or replacement focusing on electrical systems and develop preventative maintenance schedules for major water resources infrastructures, e.g., hydroelectric generation plants, storage dams and reservoirs, pumping facilities, and water conveyance/irrigation systems, etc.

Responsibilities

-Plans and schedules the repair or replacement of electrical systems and develops preventative maintenance schedules for major water resources infrastructures.

-Serves as a senior advisor in formulating, planning, measuring, analyzing, executing and reporting on the Area Office's operations, maintenance and engineering program.

-Coordinates activities with all levels of the Area Office personnel.

-Develops out-year program requirements, evaluates and reports on program results.

-Plans and schedules maintenance activities required for equipment, facilities and supporting infrastructures.

-Prepares job plans and job packages. Coordinates overall job priorities, criteria and schedule requirements with project personnel.

-Determines sequence of work instructions, labor requirements, required parts, equipment, and required drawings, diagrams and safety requirements.

-Prepares cost estimates, job hazard analysis, purchase requisitions etc.

-Prepares various reports on maintenance planning, progress and accomplishment.

-Utilizes maintenance management system to manage, monitor, and report on maintenance activities.

-Serves as the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for basic inspection and acceptance of maintenance and repair services on equipment and facilities.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Travel required approxiamtely 10% of the time. Some travel will be required to visit project sites, attend meetings, conferences.

Applicants must have specialized experience as defined below:

Definition of Specialized Experience: To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:

GS-12: Experience planning and scheduling mechanical equipment repair and preventative maintenance projects involving large industrial plant equipment; and coordinating and integrating work across multiple functions and crafts (e.g., engineers, electricians, plant mechanics, control operations(safety clearances), supply, purchasing). Experience, overseeing or supervising trades and crafts work in an industrial or power generation facility responsible for planning and monitoring project work, determining and scheduling project needs (e.g., tools, parts, equipment, safety clearances/requirements, etc.). These examples are not all inclusive.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Relocation: Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses (with the exception of the Guaranteed Home Sale provisions) may be authorized for payment by the Bureau of Reclamation. Specific entitlements will be determined at time of selection.

Telework: Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.

Conditions of Employment:

- This position requires completion of a one-year probationary period.

- Successful adjudication of personnel security investigation required.

- Operation of a Government vehicle required; therfore, you must possess and maintain a valid State's driver's license. Driving record will be verified prior to final selection.

- Required to obtain and use a government-issued credit card.

- All Federal employees are required by PL 104-134 to have federal payments made by direct deposit.

- Satisfactory completion of a medical examination is required before assignment to the position.

- Work is indoors and outside, subject to prevailing weather and terrain. Employee works in the vicinity of energized and high voltage sources and moving equipment.

- Position is represented by the National federation of Federal Employees, Local 951.

- Incumbent must possess or obtain certification as a Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative (CTR)/Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR).

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
