Summary The advertised Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor- Transitional Work Coordinator position is located within the Vocational Rehabilitation-Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) section of the Behavioral Health Care Line (BHCL) on the Albuquerque Campus. As a multi-disciplinary effort to support Veterans in their ability to obtain and maintain permanent employment, our CWT staff work well together within our Outpatient Mental Health Section as well as four on-site Residential Treatment units. Programming in the Compensated Work Therapy Section is heavily influenced by principles from Motivational Interviewing, and includes Evidence-Based Supported Employment Principles. Position Description\/PD#: Vocational Rehab Counselor\/10276O Relocation\/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Duties The ideal applicant will be highly engaging and self-directed with solid administrative and organizational skills, and will be familiar with Veteran culture. An alternate work schedule may be available to accommodate patient care needs. This position requires that the applicants have some experience and knowledge in employment services, including community-based job development, with experience in assisting clients in obtaining employment or on-the-job training. The applicant should be willing to engage in training and job development to stay abreast of evidence supported employment practices for a specialized Veteran population. Veteran clients may possess a serious mental illness (SMI) diagnosis and\/or psychosocial challenges such as homelessness, chronic unemployment and substance use disorder. The position is supervised by the Vocational Rehabilitation Program Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing mental health, physical disabilities or other psychosocial handicaps to identify how those affect motivation, adjustment to training, and difficulty in employment placement; determining the vocational goals and objectives of the client; assessing training needs to meet the client's vocational goals and objectives. In addition, the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor supports clients in all work related tasks, including but not limited to: transportation, dealing with co-workers and supervisors, ongoing and follow along supports, and compliance with specification of appropriate clinical support(s). The incumbent will spend the majority of their work week providing evidence-informed employment services. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a State of New Mexico Counseling License as well as a valid driver's license. $61,425 $79,855 Job Details Application Open Date 4\/12\/2018
