Summary

The position is located in the Office of the Technology and Information Management (BC-TIM) of Bureau of Competition. BC-TIM is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support and consultation to the litigation divisions within the Bureau of Competition. BC-TIM's technical support specialists are responsible for providing on-going advice to legal staff with a variety of litigation support tools.

Responsibilities

At the full performance level, the incumbent of this position will perform the following duties:

• Identify, formulate and implement technology solutions for electronic productions in order to improve overall bureau litigation support.

• Develop or evaluate procedures and computer specifications designed to ensure indexing consistency, and to maximize the ease with which documents can be retrieved from tailored data files on the computer or other storage medium.

• Periodically assess the hardware and software needs of litigation teams in the Bureau of Competition.

• Work with the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO),to resolve technology related issues.

• Work with OCIO staff to develop specifications for upgrades to existing computer systems or the election, implementation, & development of new systems and other highly sophisticated hardware and software required for litigation support.

• Provide training to attorney and paralegal staff on the Bureau's litigation technology applications and serve as technical support specialist and responsible party for providing on-going advice and assistance to legal staff on applying and integrating technological capabilities throughout every aspect of case investigation and litigation, and for managing automated litigation support systems installed for use across the Bureau.

Qualifying experience includes the ability to perform a wide variety of litigation support functions including administering Concordance or ZyLAB (SQL) or other similar databases.

Specialized Experience at the GS-12: must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying experience includes include the ability to perform a wide variety of litigation support functions including administering Concordance or ZyLAB (SQL) databases and providing end-user training on CaseMap, TrialDirector or ZyLAB.
