Summary

About the Position:

This position is located at Camp Atterbury.

Camp Atterbury is located in Edinburgh, IN. Camp Atterbury was named for William Wallace Atterbury, the Pennsylvania Railroad president. During World War I, Atterbury was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a Brigadier General to oversee military railway construction in France. Camp Atterbury has many outdoor activities such as fishing; deer and pheasant hunging; and wildlife observing. There are also theaters, antique malls, wineries and museums nearby.

This position is a TERM position. It is temporary and may be extended up to a maximum of six years.

Duties will be performed under the supervision of the Supervisory Physician in the Medical Evaluation Board Remote Operating Center (MEBROC) where no hands-on patient encounter is provided. All contact regarding the Soldier's medical evaluation board will be done by Postal mail, telephone, tele-health equipment.

This position is being filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority for Shortage Category and/or Critical Need Health Care Occupations.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) Clinical Psychologist subject matter expert and consultant for the development of the psychiatric portion of the narrative summary (NARSUM).

Review electronic medical records to determine if a Medical Decision Retention Point (MRDP) has been reached for a behavioral health condition or multiple conditions.

Respond to inquires and requests, verbally and in writing, for Independent Medical Reviews (IMR) and appeals.

Occasional travel - Up to 5% business travel may be required.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist:

Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:

Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as: reviewing medical records to summarize psychiatric and related medical conditions, recommending mental health diagnosis, and providing consultation regarding treatment services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Licensure Requirement: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
