Job Description

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) provides for the care, custody, and control of persons accused of crimes or convicted and sentenced to one year or less of jail time.\u00a0 The Department manages 12 inmate facilities, 9 of which are located on Rikers Island.\u00a0 In addition, the Department operates two hospital Prison Wards (Bellevue and Elmhurst hospitals) and court holding facilities in each borough.\u00a0 The DOC seeks to recruit an Executive Coordinator to support the Deputy Commissioner in administering all aspects of Programming for the adult inmate population.\u00a0 Tasks will include, but not be limited to:\u2022\tAssisting in the coordination of long-term planning of all programming activities geared to the Adult inmate population;\u2022\tCoordinating the daily itinerary of the Deputy Commissioner during the planning and implementation of programs and initiatives;\u2022\tPlanning and monitoring the workflow of program evaluations from both staff and outside vendors for presentation to the DC\u2022\tPreparing reports on funding and performs analyses on program updates on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner or other senior staff;\u2022\tProviding interpretation of basic programs to interested parties when needed;\u2022\tCoordinating all activities of the Division and provides administrative support to avoid conflicting schedule and makes adjustments when necessary\u2022\tWorking collaboratively with other Executive Coordinators during high-level meetings with both internal and external stakeholders;\u2022\tPreparing Deputy Commissioner for meetings and briefings on a daily basis;\u2022\tWorks on special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to \1\ or \2\ above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in \1\ above.

\u2022\tAbility to gather sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality on all matters;\u2022\tExperience in a high paced environment, with the ability to manage information and distribute appropriately;\u2022\tAbility to establish positive working relationships with multiple units and different levels of staff;\u2022\tExcellent writing, communication, inter-personal, analytical, research, problem-solving, and organizational skills; \u2022\tMicrosoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) proficiency;\u2022\tAbility to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
