Summary BLM is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual to join the team to serve as a Range Technician (Senior Fire Dispatcher) for North Central Montana District Office, Division of Fire Management. Responsibilities The incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following: Performing and directing others in receiving fire reports.Inputting data into a number of fire-related computer applications.Coordinating aviation dispatch operations.Determining appropriate resource response to incidents and requests from the field and dispatches personnel, equipment, aircraft, and\/or supplies.Organizing and reviewing completed records of all orders placed and actions taken to ensure adherence to established operation procedures.Providing critical logistical support information to supervisor and making recommendations concerning the efficient uses of available resources.Recording and maintaining communication logs.Coordinating and assisting with fire training and orientation.Making recommendations for improvement, and updating\/developing operating plans and mobilization guides.Providing assistance on problems encountered by lower level dispatch personnel.Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in an office setting. The work involves long hours of sitting, intense concentration, and working at peak proficiency\/intensity levels with irregular breaks and mealtimes. The duties of this position create a highly stressful environment during peak activity, requiring the ability to keep calm in emergency situations. Incumbent must be able to cope with the pressure of meeting timeframes and changing priorities. Mental concentration and accuracy are required. Travel Required Occasional travel - At times, travel for meetings and\/or training may be required. During times of peak fire activity additional travel may be required.
