Summary

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted position.

Air Reserve Technicians are part of the regular civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain active membership in an Air Force Reserve unit so long as they occupy Air Reserve Technician positions. As members of reserve units, ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. In addition, they are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.

THIS IS A 180-DAY SEMI-ANNUAL REGISTER THAT IS USED TO FILL ART AIRCRAFT WORKER WG-08 VACANCIES WITH PROMOTION POTENTIAL TO WG-10 AT AFRC LOCATIONS FOR THE PERIOD 1 FEB 2018 THROUGH 31 JUL 2018. THE NEXT ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE POSTED THE FIRST WEEK IN AUG 2018. THE BEGINNING AND ENDING SALARIES MAY VARY DEPENDING ON THE LOCATION OF THE POSITION.

The first cut-off for this announcement is two (2) weeks from the opening date of this announcement. After the first cut off, the cut-off will be the 25th of each month. Responsibilities

The primary purpose of these Air Reserve Technician (ART) Enlisted positions is to serve as an Aircraft Worker providing support to aircraft mechanic maintenance operations of an Air Force Reserve Maintenance Squadron. These are developmental positions leading to the full performance level of journeyman, WG-8852-10, Aircraft Mechanic. As an Aircraft Worker, the incumbent will perform duties such as:

· Removing, inspecting, cleaning, repairing, adjusting, and installing aircraft components & parts.

· Assisting higher grade aircraft mechanics in more complex tasks.

· Accomplishing operational and maintenance record keeping, both manual and automated, associated with aircraft maintenance and repair.

· Utilizing safety practices and procedures.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Incumbent may be required to fly in a military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.

(9) Some positions covered by this announcement may be designated as drug testing positions where the incumbent may be subject to random testing for drug use. (10) Obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. (11) Some positions under this announcement may be covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. (12) Some positions covered by this announcement may be controlled positions covered by the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).

Qualifications

A specific length of experience or training is not required. However, you must have experience and/or training (military or civilian, paid or unpaid) of sufficient scope and quality to be able to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. You must show that you have the experience as identified in the Job Elements listed below as they relate to the position for which you are applying. Since your rating will be based upon the information you supply in your application (resume), you should be as detailed as possible and use the following Job Elements as a guide to assist you in identifying your relevant work experience.
