Summary

Our Directorate of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army's mission. They provide necessary skills that are crucial to supporting our military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

The USA Army Hawaii Libraries provide services and material in a variety of formats to support the information, education, and recreation needs of the Hawaii Army community. The main library, SGT Yano, is located at Schofield Barracks and the branch library is located at Fort Shafter.

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is Island of Oahu. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) Preference eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

This position is located at Schofield Barracks Library. Applicants must be available to work all shifts to include days, evenings and weekends Monday through Tuesday 9:00 am- 8:15 pm and Wednesday through Saturday 9:00 am- 6:15 pm.

Responsibilities

Provides technician support by performing a wide variety of direct services to the public: registers patrons, charges/discharges materials, processes overdues and reserves, assists with interlibrary loans and reserves, shelves library materials, prepares displays, programs activities, answers basic reference questions, and assists customers in locating materials; and/or provides technical services support in a variety of functions: basic/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing and de-acquisitioning of library materials. Assists in maintaining accountability records and in performing shelf inventories. Performs simple maintenance on the library's automated systems.

Incumbent may perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing of loaded trucks; and recurring lifting of heavy items such as boxes of books or journals.
