This position is located in Quality Management Service at the VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center & Clinics in White City, Oregon.
The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative and technical direction and support to the Licensed Independent Providers credentialing and privileging operation. The incumbent supports all divisions of the facility including full time, part time, temporary, intermittent, contract, without compensation (WOC) and fee basis resources.

Responsibilities
The Medical Staff Coordinator is responsible for the Credentialing of Independent Clinical Providers and is the medical staff subject matter expert for the accreditation of licensed independent providers (LIP) and the Non-LIPs. Duties of the position include:
Manages provider applications (initial and renewals) for the credentialing and privileging within the facility;
Ensures current information is present on providers relative to state licensure, documentation of professional education and specialty medical training, renewal of privileges and adverse actions which may affect the status of privileges granted for medical practice;
Receives and reviews both sensitive and non-sensitive correspondence for the credentials function. Triages correspondence and communications to determine which items require immediate attention and which are confidential in nature.
Provides ongoing review of regulatory requirements, TJC Standards, changing laws and legal precedents in order to review facility regulations and make necessary recommendations for changes to ensure compliance.
Provides guidance and instruction to facility staff in completing the required documentation of establishing privileges for Healthcare providers.
Ensures primary source verification to include but not limited to licenses, education, certifications, medical specialty training, board certification, continuing medical education credits, etc.
Serve as technical advisor to service chiefs on routine and noncomplex matters related to credentialing and privileging health care practitioners, such as Focused Professional Practice Evaluation/Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE/FPPE), and other actions as indicated by the Credentials Committee.
Prepares agendas/minutes for credentials related meetings, ensures those involved are notified of expectations, and ensures appropriate paperwork is accomplished completely and accurately prepared for committee action.
Conducts final appointment into the VetPro database, after thoroughly researching, analyzing and validating all data, information, documents and signature authorities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/29/2018.
Time-In-Grade Requirement
: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note:
Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-07 Level
* Specialized Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
* Knowledge of credentialing rules, regulations and procedures.
* Ability to create and maintain data bases.
* Ability to interact with all levels of staff, outside agencies, and applicants.
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to a diverse audience.

* Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one (1) full year of graduate level education OR Superior Academic Achievement. OR,
* Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education.
GS-09 Level:
* Specialized Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements to include TJC, OIG and VHA Directives.
* Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems;
* Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement.

* Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must havea master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. Note

Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Physical Requirements:
Work involves sitting at a desk, frequent visits to clinics and staff offices, working at a computer, and lifting/carrying of light objects such as documents, folders, books and files. Work is primarily sedentary. No special physical demands are required. Keen hearing and distinct speech are essential due to the extensive use of the telephone as a means of communication. May be a certain amount of mental strain due to time constraints, workload demands, and frequent reviews and surveys.
