DoDEA consists of three regions, DoDEA Americas, DoDEA Europe, and DoDEA Pacific and a total of eight school districts located overseas and in the U.S. and its territories. DoDEA provides education to eligible DoD military and civilian dependents from pre-kindergarten through grade 12.

Provides technical support to the school Librarian or other Information Specialist by performing a wide variety of direct library services to the students, teachers, and patrons, as well as indirect technical services in support of the library.
Assists students and teachers in locating desired materials and gathers materials for specific classroom units of study upon request of a teacher and sets up special accounts.
Instructs students and parent volunteers in the use of Information Center resources and use of the copy machine, laminator, lettering machine, binding machine, audio-visual (AV) equipment and other library equipment.
Assists in procuring and/or copying DVDs, videos, compact disks and other AV media for circulation.
Prepares material orders on proper DoDEA forms for submission to supply or the area Information Management Center (IMC).
Assists in cataloging incoming materials and inputs into a school library automated program.
Assists students and other users in the use of Information Center computers and peripheral equipment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: All candidates must be U.S. Citizens and reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community. (5 CFR 575.203)

A qualified typist is required for this position (40wpm).
In order to qualify for these positions, applicants must possess one year of general work experience that has equipped the applicant with knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience, education, and/or training that demonstrates knowledge of standardized library rules, procedures and operations related to one or more library functions such as those used to maintain the collection, locate information, process library materials, or assist clientele with routine inquiries.
Applicants must possess: one year general experience; or two years post-high school level education; or a combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
