Job Description

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) provides for the care, custody, and control of persons accused of crimes or convicted and sentenced to one year or less of jail time.\u00a0 The Department manages 12 inmate facilities, 9 of which are located on Rikers Island.\u00a0 In addition, the Department operates two hospital Prison Wards (Bellevue and Elmhurst hospitals) and court holding facilities in each borough.\u00a0 The DOC seeks to recruit an Executive Coordinator to support the Policy and Compliance unit in administering all aspects of the unit\u2019s assignments.\u00a0 Tasks will include, but not be limited to:\u2022\tManaging and performing data analysis and reporting;\u2022\tAnalyzing trends in order to identify areas for improvement, and verify results for accuracy; \u2022\tMeeting restrictive deadlines; \u2022\tOverseeing and partaking in special projects pertaining to data analytics;\u2022\tLiaising with initiative owners across the department to complete projects;\u2022\tAnalyzing lead indicators and correlations within various programs, operations and business initiatives;\u2022\tServing as a subject matter experts on available or necessary data elements and for complex statistical \u00a0 analysis; \u2022\tDesigning and developing reports, schedules and charts to translate data results into actionable insights \u2022\tCommunicating and presenting data analysis to senior leadership; \u2022\tDesigning and implementing reports that track key business metrics; \u2022\tCollecting/receiving data, from multiple sources, including Microsoft Excel and non-database sources;\u2022\tCreating relational databases, and producing outcome results and reports;\u2022\tCreating a data entry point, illustrating relationships, and producing outcome reports of the collected \u00a0 data;\u2022\tCreating and teaching systems \u2022\tPerforming other duties and assignments as needed.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to \1\ or \2\ above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in \1\ above.

Preferred Skills

\u2022\tKnowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages and programs for analyzing data sets (Access, Excel, SPSS, etc.);\u2022\tStrong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy;\u2022\tMS Office Proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel); \u2022\tExcellent verbal, written communication and data presentation skills; \u2022\tDemonstrated analytical and problem solving skills;\u2022\tKnowledge of data mining, statistical concepts, modeling and predictive Analytics;\u2022\tAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality
