THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

?**POSITION WILL BE VACANT UPON INCUMBENT**

This National Guard position is for a DIRECTOR OF MISSION SYSTEMS, Position Description Number D1831000and is part of the OK 146th Air Support Operations Squadron, National Guard.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Responsibilities

Plan, develop and direct the mission systems for the ASOG/ASOS which entails the adapting, modifying, analyzing, installing, maintaining and operating automated communication systems which include complex transmission systems and Information Management Networks (voice and data) in both tactical and fixed base environments in support of major military components and coalition forces. Serves as the supervisor over the Mission Systems Branch. Directs the installation, testing, evaluation, modification, maintenance, and reporting of the full range of Communications-Electronics (C-E) equipment and systems assigned. Provides highly complex technical solutions that support unique command and control communications systems requirements that support the major military components in addition to the coalition forces operations. Monitors quality control practices and performs qualitative and quantitative studies that measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of the complex multi-mission requirements of the Mission Systems Branch in support of the Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC). Evaluates scheduling, rescheduling or reassignment of work. Ensures standard C-E maintenance and repair methods are followed to meet complex specifications of assigned equipment. Tracks time and work completion that is critical for mission operations, safety, and work-load and manpower requirements. Incumbent analyzes current and past maintenance effectiveness and directs remedial actions to correct problems or deficiencies to preclude recurrence. Advises the ASOG/ASOS Commanders of significant issues and matters affecting the production, control, and effectiveness of the unit's C-E systems function.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Military Grades: E-6 TO E-7

Compatible Military Assignments: 11XXX, 12XXX, 13XXX, 14NXX, 38PXX, 2GXXX, 3C0XX, 3D1X3, 3D1X1, 3D1X2

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.?

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Applicant must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance within one year of appointment.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education or training in program or managerial experience in a type of work or a combination of functions directly related to the position to be filled or in comparable work or functions. Experience developing and recommending policy; organizing and carrying out specific programs, evaluating and recommending changes in methods of operations. Experience in supervisory, staff or technical work which included study, analysis or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of managerial or administrative policies, practices and procedures. Experience preparing written communications and oral presentations.

For Supervisory Positions, add the following Specialized Experience: Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

Education

Substitution of Education for the Specialized Experience - Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
