Job Description The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking qualified individuals to provide counseling services to residents assigned to the Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center. The incumbent for this position will plan, implement and monitor rehabilitation services and case management functions for assigned residents; chairs and coordinates Treatment Team; monitors residents progress; participates in treatment assessments and therapeutic team meetings; provides individual counseling; facilitates group counseling; processes and monitors visitation; makes referrals and submits reports to courts; appears in court as needed; establish and maintain contact with Court Service Unit Probation Officers, Department of Social Services and families; utilize resources for alternative placements; participates in training and responds to crisis and emergency situations. This position may be required to work late nights and weekends. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of the principles and practices of therapeutic counseling; working knowledge of casework treatment methods; working knowledge of behavior modification, offender rehabilitation, mental and emotional crisis intervention techniques; experience developing, implementing and monitor treatment programs; experience monitoring residents progress; ability to counsel and appropriately interact with offenders; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college, or university with a degree in a human services related field. A combination of training and experience may substitute for education; previous experience in a residential setting. Special Requirements Acceptable Pre-Employment Drug Screen and Background Investigation required; Valid Driver\u00e2??s License is needed by the time of employment; must be able to meet DJJ Training Requirements.
