As our Senior Media and Public Affairs Advisor, your expertise in developing and managing a variety of stakeholder relationships is essential. In this role, you will lean upon your entrepreneurial inclinations and your well-honed abilities to win friends and influence people as you develop content and pitch stories that help the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco (FRBSF) communicate with external stakeholders. Through these interactions, initiatives and programs, you will play a key role in increasing public understanding of the FRBSF and the Federal Reserve System.

Highlights of Responsibilities:

Develop and implement near and long-term strategic media goals, strategies, tactics and integrated communications strategy

Use thoughtful creativity to engage external stakeholders in new and innovative ways, broadening and deepening public understanding of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco

Manage, coordinate and lead content creation initiatives for a variety of external platforms

Proactively create story-telling opportunities that engage a variety of media outlets

Coordinate with internal stakeholders to develop messaging platforms for issues and opportunities

Coach and prepare senior Bank leaders to serve as effective media spokespersons, positioning them as thought leaders in their areas of expertise

Manage timely and appropriate responses to media inquiries that have the potential to damage the reputation of the organization

Maintain knowledge of emerging media trends and nontraditional media strategies and tactics, updating FRBSF strategy accordingly

Executive handling at speaking events, media and conferences in the US and abroad

Responsibilities:  70% pure media relations and 30% general public relations/affairs

Qualifications:

Experience: You have 8 years related experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, Public Relations, English, or really impressive experience

Strong collaborator and influencer with high levels of Emotional Intelligence that checks their ego at the door and listens to understand client needs and know how to provide appropriate solutions while building trust and relationships. You have the ability to listen keenly to internal clients, (particularly c-suite executives), contextualize their concerns within existing parameters, and gain their buy-in. You offer principals the appropriate level of support to ensure their comfort level

Experience securing national media coverage across all mediums (broadcast, newspapers, magazines and online) a must.  Your strong understanding of and experience working with the media includes pitching/placing stories with national media and top-tier digital outlets, as well as content development. You are innovative in seeking opportunities to best position the organization publicly

Superior communication and writing skills, expert in Associated Press style with the ability to develop and edit high-quality materials including; communications plans, media POV’s, press materials, fact sheets, bylined articles, trend analysis summaries, executive correspondence, speeches, remarks and presentations. You have a deft touch; you’ve shown the ability to work with various constituencies to guide competing interests along a common path. You can synthesize complex streams of information related to economics and turn them into plain English
