Summary

MILITARY SPOUSE (SEP) Preference:

Location: This vacancy will be used to fill multiple positions within the Fort Meade Child and Youth Service Division.

Work Schedule: Applicants must be able to work evenings (Mon-Fri) and weekends. Schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends. Though this position is being advertised for the Middle School Teen Program, it is possible that other positions within Child and Youth Services may be filled from this announcement as they become available. Work schedules may vary depending on the facility where the applicant is assigned.

Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift up to forty (40) pounds to assist in the safety of children during emergencies or drills.

Responsibilities

Utilizes Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) to oversee the collection, accurate accounting and reporting of funds; and to collect and maintain up-to-date statistical data for planning and reporting purposes.

Receives children, youth, parents, and other visitors in a courteous manner. Answers main telephone, ascertain nature of call and direct caller to appropriate staff takes a message or personally provides desired information.

Provides administrative support including typing/word processing, mail preparation, copying, distribution, and travel orders . Prepares a variety of correspondence, memorandums, briefings and other reports required for day-to-day operation.

Maintains records, files, statistical data, and suspense system. Assists in maintaining leave records, and time and attendance records. Prepares invoices, supply and equipment requests. Uses E-Mail to send and retrieve messages.

Monitors supplies and resources. Orders office supplies. Assists in facility key control.

Qualifications

1-Progressively responsible administrative duties.

2-Skill in operating a manual or electric typewriter and current automation system and software (Microsoft Windows, Word, Power Point, Excel) required.

3-Must be able to type 40 words per minute (wpm).

4-Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation and composition techniques needed to accurately type a variety of material from written sources or voice recordings.

5-Possess the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

HIGHLY PREFERRED:

1. Knowledge of formats, forms, typing policies and common terminology of the program for which the work is to be performed.

AND

2. Experience working with Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) or a similar automated registration and usage tracking system used in a child care development center.
