Summary Indian Affairs provides services to 567 federally recognized tribes with a population of about 1.9 million American Indian and Alaska Natives. Indian Affairs offers an extensive range of programs such as social services, law enforcement and detention services, administration of tribal courts, natural resources management, economic development, implementation of land and water claim settlements, housing improvement, disaster relief, and the replacement and maintenance of schools, roads, and bridges. Responsibilities As a Lease Compliance Technician, GS-1802-4, your typical work assignments and\/or responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: As the Lease Compliance Technician for the Office of Natural Resources the main concern will be dealing with compliance activities which involve field inspections designed to: * Determine lease stipulation compliance; assess hay cutting averages; and to follow up on reported or suspected trespass activities. * Provide sustained yield-management, conservation, development and utilization of the range resources on permitted and leased lands for the conservation and protection of trust resources. * Conduct compliance activities on farm and pasture leases on trust surface within the exterior boundaries of the agencies jurisdiction. * Collect and compile field data and obtain compliance with lease and permit terms as well as regulations. * Take corrective actions in routine matters and reports other technical issues to supervisor for direction and guidance. TELEWORK: Indian Affairs has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster. A background security investigation will be required for all new hires. Qualifications EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-1802). GS-4: I have one year of general experience which is progressively responsible for clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. And also includes work involving: 1) compliance activities on farm and pasture leases; 2) complete compliance forms by making field inspections; 3) determine compliance with agriculture lease stipulations; 4) assess hay cutting averages; 5) respond to reported or suspected trespass. OR 2 years of successfully completed education above the high school level. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
