Candidate must have excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills with higher education and governmental accounting experience. This position is a professional accounting position and requires appropriate accounting knowledge in order to perform the required duties. A working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is essential so that independent decisions can be made and adequate supervisory and technical assistance can be provided to departmental staff.
B.S. Degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 3 years Higher Education and Governmental Accounting Experience
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent oral and written communication skills

This position is responsible for the direct supervision and the daily operations of the Bursar's Section of the university's Business Affairs Office. Responsibilities include the independent supervision and control of all cash balances and deposits, student accounts receivable and billings including the proper assessment of all student related tuition and fees, the proper calculation and disbursement of student refunds, all accounting transactions processed to students' accounts and other receivable accounts, the monitoring of student related expenditures, and all correspondence with students, parents, university personnel, auditors, etc. regarding the Bursar's section. Duties also include endowment funds monitoring and reporting, nonresident alien tax assessment and IRS form preparation, Perkins Loan repayment reconciliations and reporting, supervision of third party contract remittances, and assisting with annual financial statement notes; completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, and analysis of computerized financial reports as well as reconciliations to the University's Financial Records System.
Candidate must have the ability to analyze the accounting data and statements and draw logical conclusions and interpretations as well as communicate orally and through concise written reports with/to subordinates, supervisors, personnel of equal level, legislative and internal auditors, students, parents of students, guardians, and others. This position and the subordinates of this position are highly visible to the student body and are the primary representative of the University's business offices through daily contact.
