THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER, Position Description Number D1193000/D1194000 and is part of the ND UTES, National Guard.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Responsibilities

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER, WG-5801-8/10, you will Performs limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles.Performs limited diagnoses to determine the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses basic test equipment such as compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges. Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile. Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can

be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Grades: Current Enlisted members (all ranks) and Warrant Officer (CW3 and below) in the NDARNG

Compatible Military Assignments: WOBR: 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 91. WMOS: 94, 882A. ECMF: 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 91, 92, 94.

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

1. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Do you possess the experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work?

2. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Do you possess either 12 months (WG 8) or 18 months (WG 10) experience or training diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems; experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment; experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems; experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems?

INSTRUCTIONS: For each of the statements below, choose the response that best represents your education, experience, and training. Do not overstate or understate your level of experience and capability. 18 months of experience is required for each competency for this position. Note: Your answers will be verified against the information you provided in your resume, transcripts, or application and information provided by your references.

3. Perform removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories of surface maintenance equipment.

4. Interpret parts list, manufacturer's repair manuals, technical manuals, diagrams, engineering drawings, and schematics.

5. Use basic test equipment to analyze test results to determine fault for repair or replacement of improperly functioning parts or components.

6. Determines what adjustments may be necessary to complete work orders, and whether any additional repairs other than those specified or indicated on the work order are necessary.
