Cash Custodian performs custodial duties as a member of a Coin Vault, Currency Vault, Currency Receiving, Currency Shipping, Accommodation or Government Teller, BPS, or Off-line Currency Destruction team, and functions in an individual, dual control, joint control, restricted joint control, single or multiple machine room control, vault container, or automated vault control custody environment. The following essential functions are not all inclusive and may be supplemented as necessary. All incumbents must meet Bank and departmental attendance standards, as applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
All responsibilities listed below:
Accurate processing as an IDA Witness under joint responsibility
Cross-trains in other cash functions
Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of all applicable custody control, procedural, and data/information security as established by CCPS, TCOM, operating circulars, district and department operating manuals.
Ensures holdover is processed according to guidelines
Ensures that deposits and/or orders are processed in a timely and efficient manner
Interprets, identifies and communicates routine equipment and system problems to the appropriate personnel
Interprets, identifies and communicates routine equipment and systems problems to the appropriate personnel
Maintains and transfers holdings of un-assorted currency to cash processing teams and vault
Meets Bank's attendance standards
Meets individual production standards for custodians. (As determined by department management. Standards will vary by office depending on the department productivity targets)
Meets quality standards as determined by district standards and department management
Processes outgoing coin and currency shipments.
Provides liaison support between the operations and armored carriers
Receives and dispatches registered mail
Receives and maintains accurate inventories of currency, coin, counterfeit, and other valuables
Receives and verifies coin and currency deposits from Depository Financial Institutions, other FRB offices, coin terminals, cash depots, US Mint , DEA, FBI, and Bureau of Engraving and Printing
Researches and resolves routine problems and balance discrepancies
Understands the basics and successfully operates Bank equipment and automated systems used in the operation
Verifies and destroys unfit and contaminated currency according to policy and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to accurately operate SCA and/or other automated systems, and prepare an accurate unit proof
Basic knowledge of the receiving and/or shipping process for currency, coin, and other valuables.
Basic knowledge of Bank equipment and systems, and be able to recover from simple situations in an effective manner.
Basic knowledge of automated processing environment.
Possess excellent manual dexterity in preparing and operating machinery.
Ability to routinely lift 30-80 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and repetitively stoop, bend, lift over shoulders, and push up to 1000 lbs. Max., 70 lbs. exertion weight.
Ability to work within extreme temperatures, dust, and bio-hazards such as; blood borne pathogens, sewage, etc.
Good vision required
Ability to operate the following equipment:
Ten key calculator
Medium and low speed currency counters
Other equipment applicable to an operating environment
Ability to drive fork-lift and operate a pallet jack. General understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures and system applications.
Working knowledge of personal computers, windows based software, and internet.
Applies acquired job skills and Bank policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
Has the knowledge and skills to deal with competing requests at one time.
Teamwork, Strong written & oral communication skills, customer service orientation, analytical and problem solving ability and PC skills.
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Work Experience
Typically requires 1-2 years of related experience
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7am - 4pm
