ADA Senior Project Manager - Information Systems Specialist 7


ODOT is excited to announce an opening for an ADA senior project manager, information systems specialist 7

. This position would primarily be responsible for supporting ODOT's Information Systems related to the 'Americans With Disabilities Act' (ADA) Settlement Agreements projects and efforts. This will include managing affected IT projects at the senior level for large-sized projects or systems that are complex and that could span multiple divisions. In addition, this position is responsible for providing assistance to customers at the senior level of resolving problems and issues.

Duties & Responsibilities

Software (Construction)

Perform project management activities on large-size and complex projects that results in changing or re-engineering business processes.

Meet with the customers, ODOT partners, and stakeholders to evaluate, understand, document and communicate customer's needs.

Develop resources, cost, and time estimates for accomplishing the customer's software solution needs. Develop project plans.

Works with system manager to define, track, and manage project scope, deliverables, and implementation.

Organizes material so that the information necessary for customer understanding and for systems analysis and programmer work are communicated.

Develops Request for Proposal documents for acquisition of software/software programming services or a wide variety of hardware to meet users of information systems needs.

Reviews and approves project deliverables through all phases of a project.

Software (Planning)

Participates in Information Resource Planning and Tactical Planning for the Transportation Application Development team.

Plans for a variety of applications/operating systems with a variety of users and hardware.

Evaluates new industry products, approaches and technology directions with focus on how these can be integrated in ODOT's technology.

Software (Customer Assistance)

Meets with the customer to evaluate, understand, document and communicate customer's computer needs.

Meets with customers to communicate alternatives; facilitates and negotiates an action plan for providing customers with computer needs.

Data (Construction)

Assists in the development of new standards for development of software development (i.e. software, data, and process standards).

Ensures that project team follows existing standards establishes new data standards as needed.

Hardware (Construction)

Responsible for system designs that potentially span multiple locations and mixed technological environments.

Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills

Minimum Qualifications

(a) Six (6) years of information systems experience in:

Project or program management and the software development lifecycle.


(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND

four (4) years of information systems experience in:

Project or program management and the software development lifecycle.;


(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for four (4) years. AND

two (2) years of information systems experience in:

Project or program management and the software development lifecycle.;


(d) Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Experience managing projects and leading project teams to achieve success in a software development environment

Experience managing multiple projects and project dependencies with resources across different teams and at different levels of authority

Experience working closely with business partners to identify needs, solutions, and the resultant organization change needs

Experience working at all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

Experience with Project Management tools and processes as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI)
