The selectee for this position will serve as a Pastoral Counselor in the Pastoral care Department, Naval Hospital, Camp Pendleton of NAVAL HOSPITAL CAMP PENDLETON.

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
Provides short-term and long- term pastoral counseling and psychotherapy to patients , staff members and families.
Provides crisis, and critical incident intervention and ongoing pastoral counseling to victims of emotional, psychological, spiritual or physical trauma.
Participates in hospital emergency management plans.
Provides training and education to staff members and military chaplains on relevant aspects of pastoral counseling.
Maintains records of pastoral care and pastoral counseling assessments, patient contacts, referrals and appointments to ensure quality care of clients.

Licensed as an independent Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist is preferred.
Certification as a Pastoral Counselor from a national association or college of Pastoral Counselors is preferred.
Completed at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) in a program certified by a national body that certifies (CPE) programs is preferred.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Successfully completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines in the field appropriate to the position.
Combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
POSITIVE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: This position has a Positive Education Requirement. In order to verify that you meet the positive education qualifications for this position, you MUST submit a complete copy of their transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (Course title, semester/quarter hours and grade). Failure to submit this information WILL result in an ineligible rating.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Providing crisis and critical incident interventions and ongoing pastoral counseling to patients of emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical trauma.
- Providing short-term, long-term and small group mental health counseling from a spiritual and theological perspective.
- Preparing reports regarding patients' treatment progress as it relates to their diagnosis.
- Participating and contributing to a multidisciplinary treatment team.
