DFAS is using the Direct Hire Authority (DHA) for DOD Cyber Workforce Positions to recruit and appoint individuals to positions that meet the definition of cyber workforce (also known as cyberspace workforce) as defined in DoDD 8140.01, Cyberspace Workforce Management, and must be anticipated to become part of the cyber excepted service. Positions in the cyber excepted service are positions necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the United States Cyber Command.

Support for Oracle 12c databases and DB2 version 9.x or 10.x in a UNIX environment which includes installation and configuring instances on servers.
Responsible for providing System Administration for Unix Database servers, Application Servers, and Windows Web Servers that will include Development, Test and Production Servers.
Responsible to coordinate with DISA the changes and support of the database design, implementation, monitoring and updates as well as database tuning for performance and stability.
Responsible to coordinate the update of the Application server software packages to the next release of COGNOS, Pentaho and Motio beginning with verification of the software update on the development server.
Participates in systems requirement reviews to assess the impacts of the changes required for COGNOS, Pentaho and Motio.
Duties are to coordinate with management, team members and other technical personnel to clarify requirements.
Uses change management processes to prevent production disruptions and outages.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-11 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: providing design, development, implementation, operation, and system modification expertise of an organization's major information systems data warehouse databases and software; participating in system requirement reviews and testing; and providing advice and counsel to functional analysts and Business Intelligence (BI) analysts on the capabilities of specific changes to the DMR servers and databases
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level.
