Position Description
The City of Seattle's Finance & Administrative Services department is seeking qualified candidates for an Accountant position. This position is responsible for performing accounting services including: review and reconcile accounts, verify and review accounting transactions, assist with report preparation, perform project accounting, research and analysis; and perform other accounting work as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
Reviews and reconciles GL accounts related to RCCP (General Fund & RCCP Agency Fund). Performs billing function including monthly invoicing, waiver & manual credits, & late fees. Performs 3-way reconciliation between 9-11 system, billing upload file and PeopleSoft. Monitors accounting activities in the recording of financial transactions related to False Alarm Billing (FAB), Wheelchair Accessible Services (WAS) and Transportation Network Companies (TNC). Performs project accounting functions including project analysis and reporting. Verifies and reviews accounting transactions. Makes appropriate corrections, entries and adjustments to ensure accuracy of reports. Responds to customer questions related to their accounts. Assists in development and modification of internal accounting control policies, procedures and practices. Assists with the preparation of financial reports, statements and schedules. Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background).

Desired Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of accounting practices, methods, laws, rules, ordinances, and regulations necessary to determine the most appropriate accounting methods and procedures to apply and to ensure compliance. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial system Intermediate level or higher skills in Microsoft Excel and Word Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Highly motivated self-starter who performs well in a continuously changing environment Demonstrated problem solving ability; can assess critical information needs, develop inquiries, and ask questions to obtain the key elements needed to resolve an issue. Ability to estimate timelines and resources to accomplish a task, effectively monitor progress, and make frequent status reports. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal). Results oriented, able to handle multiple priorities, takes pride in the accuracy, quality, and completeness of work.
