This position is located in the the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

As a Health Communication Specialist you will:

Serve as a senior expert responsible for leading the planning, implementation, management and evaluation of major complex public health communication and marketing programs and campaigns.

Direct and guide development, testing, and timely dissemination of science- and audience-based products, tools, and messages to different audiences (i.e., general public, external organizations, partners, and media) in a variety of formats (i.e., print, video, Web).

Lead or conduct research and evaluation activities related to health communication and marketing.

Work with management to ensure that the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision and values are integrated into the health communication or marketing programs, projects and products.

Serve as a liaison between agency and other CIO communication and marketing staff on agency-wide issues and networks with a variety of external stakeholders (e.g., health officials in federal, state, and local agencies) and international organizations.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for GS-1001-14:

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in leading, planning, evaluating and/or implementing major public health communication and marketing programs and campaigns.

Documenting experience: In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above.
