This position is located in the CLUBS AND CATERING DIVISION. The Candidate selected for this position will serve as a CHEF for MCCS.

The incumbent’s responsibility, first and foremost, is to lead by example, to shape and sustain a working environment most conducive to the successful performance of those entrusted to his/her leadership and direction; creating a positive atmosphere and culture within the Clubs & Catering Division and its constituent branches that reflects the pride, professionalism, sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, collaborative engagement, well-being, and wholehearted customer focus of its employees is the incumbent’s essential purpose and focus of main effort.
Primary function is to plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate the club’s galley and dining room. Oversees the Child developlment Center feeding program, prepares all reports related to this program. Responsible for food preparation, assigned personnel, inventory, food cost control, menu planning, requisitioning, training, directing and assisting cooks, preparing special dishes as required and general supervision of all food related activities. Coordinates with catering manager regarding parties, banquets, and protocol functions. Plans menus in consultation with the club manager. Assures adherence to established menus, standardized recipes, and maintains recipe files. Ensures food service personnel receive required food sanitation training. Supervises, directs, assists and participates in the preparation and cooking of food.
Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, disciplinary actions, completing performance reviews, signing timesheets, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol/substance abuse, and take appropriate action.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Advise employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials, and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents/injury to the Human Resources Office. Ensures that safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions, and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with “Return to Work” program initiatives, and following up on employee well-being.

Three years professional experience in a variety of food preparation techniques, recipe specifications and development. Knowledge and ability to apply cost control techniques, prepare food requiring skill and to teach and train others. Must have demonstrated knowledge of special and modified diet foods. Ability to use commercial food service equipment. Must be thoroughly familiar with sanitation and proper food protection procedures. Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
