Job Description
Allied Universal Services is currently searching for an EMT/Public Safety Officer
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) works as members of a pre-hospital emergency care medical team on campus. They administer first aid treatment and other emergency care to sick or injured persons and assist with facilitating the transport to medical facilities. The EMT also provides our standard Public Safety Officer functions. The EMT / Public Safety Officers are responsible to protect the campus community and its property to the best of their ability. This is accomplished through vehicle, foot and bike patrols, along with fixed post positions. The EMT / Public Safety Officer will use the DPS training, policies, procedures and the Pennsylvania State certified EMT training to accomplish this mission.
Brief Scope and Responsibility

Respond to medical emergency calls such as requests for medical assistance following emergency response procedures.
Determine the nature and extent of illness and injury.
Establish priorities in order to determine procedures to be followed for emergency first aid or assistance.
Request additional help, including special rescue and utility services.
Provide emergency medical care and other treatment pursuant to EMT certification.
Maintain all assigned equipment and inventory of supplies.
Maintain a professional appearance that reflects the department\u2019s uniform and appearance policies and procedures
Maintain and operate all equipment with care and precision.
Handle and respond to emergency situations and incidents.
Generate detailed incident reports for all incidents and discoveries.
Provide world class Customer Service and act in a professional manner at all times.
Provide patience, understanding and a positive and friendly demeanor when interacting with the Campus Community.
Provide walking and vehicle escorts to students, faculty and employees as requested.
Monitor and patrol exterior campus for suspicious persons, activity and packages.
Monitor and patrol campus buildings to detect safety hazard, facility emergences, suspicious activity and access control breaches. 

Skill Requirements

21 years of age or older
Valid Driver\u2019s License and be capable of operating Public Safety vehicles in all road and weather conditions.
Hold and maintain a certified Pennsylvania, EMT Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic license.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior Military, Law Enforcement, experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and coherently over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications.      
Ability to handle emergency situations.
Excellent professional demeanor and ability to stay composed during stressful situations.
Excellent customer service. (Patience, understanding and positive.)
Demonstrate excellent knowledge of Public Safety policy, procedure and emergency response.
Ability to work independently while also being a team player
Ability to operate and utilize various types of equipment and devices; must demonstrate proficiency in the use of department equipment and devices.

Physical Requirements

Monitoring/observing computer screens and cameras for an entire shift.
Sitting for an entire shift.
Walk, run and climb stairs.
Stand, walk, and/or drive for an entire shift.
Exposure to outside elements including inclement weather for up to an entire shift (e.g.- Cold, Rain, Snow and Heat.)
Repetitively opening doors and climbing stairs. Including ramps.
Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds.
Sufficient hearing to respond to normal verbal speech, alarm signals, radio (walkie/talkie) and telephone communications.
Sufficient visual acuity to read rosters, employee listings, post orders, maps, computer screens, check identifications and to distinguish the faces of students, employees, contractors and visitors. Includes hand/eye coordination.
Occasionally bending and twisting at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties.
Constant use of both hands and arms in reaching/handling/grasping/fingering while using phone, notepad, writing reports, and other administrative tasks.
Seizing, holding, controlling and subduing, violent, assaultive or threatening individuals posing certain danger to themselves or others.
Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments.
As a first responder, support accidents, emergencies and disasters to include First Aid, CPR and use of an AED, Automated External Defibrillator.
Administer- Handcuffs, Pepper Spray and Baton. (In use of force situation.)
