THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for an ARTILLERY REPAIRER, Position Description Number D1224000and is part of MATES, Fort Riley, Kansas, Kansas National Guard.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

As an ARTILLERY REPAIRER, WG-6605-10, you will perform maintenance on the electrical system of the turrets. Repair the stabilization control systems, circuit breakers, distribution boxes, cables, and wiring system, points and all other electrical components in the turret. Test and repair electrical test sets that are used to test the electrical systems of the tank turret. Repair the hydraulic system, which provides the pressure to elevate and traverse the gun and rotate the turret. Repair all mechanical parts involved in turret traversing, such as the traversing gearbox including the clutch assembly, and turret races including cupola bearings. Service the gun by exercising the recoil system to check for leaks in the seals. May also work on ITVs, howitzers, and other less complex equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

National Guard Membership is required.

Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.

May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Current members of the Kansas Army National Guard.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.

Military Grades: E1 through E9

Compatible Military Assignments: ECMF: 91, 94; EMOS: 13B, 13Z

Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system operations. Experience demonstrating the ability to fit and adjust parts and assemblies.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least 18 months experience or training demonstrating a broad knowledge in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and major components of artillery systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining needed repairs in artillery systems. Experience demonstrating the ability to inspect artillery systems. Experience which demonstrates the ability to develop test standards. Experience interpreting and applying drawings, schematics, blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
