Currently we have an opening in our Cash Department for a Cash Operations Specialist.  This is a work leader position with responsibilities directing Cash operations of currency processing and shipping/receiving of valuables (currency and coin).  Position will report to a higher level Supervisor or Manager and serves as work leader, directing the work of employees engaged in an operational area.  Requires planning daily work assignments, maintains supplies inventory and records, and advises management concerning area operations; also guides and counsels employees in the performance of duties, schedules and assigns work, and facilitates the work in team settings. Internal and external customers include depository financial institutions, other Federal Reserve Banks, Cash Product Office, the U.S. Mint, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, the Department of Treasury, other government agencies, and the Board of Governors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serves as work leader, directing the work of employees engaged in operational duties; plans schedules, assigns tasks, and prepares instructions; monitors and inspects work performed; provides training to less experienced personnel as needed; writes desk and operating procedures; performs duties of Supervisor in his/her absence

Performs advanced operational duties requiring experience and comprehensive knowledge; assists in the day to day functioning of the operational area as needed; openly encourages and achieves support for teaching others skills; guides and leads others in handling special situations or problems; understands all control requirements and abides by them and holds others to them

Exhibits expertise on all functions in the current automated cash system, including creation of teams, making batches, and monitoring age of unprocessed monies; researches and resolves problems in balancing, errors, adjustments, and customer issues. Contacts customers about problems

Maintains comprehensive knowledge of current regulatory requirements including Custody Controls, Standard Operating Procedures, Treasury guidelines, and accounting policies; conducts periodic reviews to ensure responsibility areas are in compliance; ensures valuables security procedures and policies are enforced

Serves as a resource for operational troubleshooting, quality, or production problems in assigned area of Cash operations; may open and close the vault, witness various operations, and checks working area at the end of the day to ensure all valuables are secure

May assist in special projects on and as needed basis

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, including excellent communication, interpersonal skills and professional customer service skills required

Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks

Ability to demonstrate strong knowledge of Custody Controls and Standard Operating Procedures

Demonstrated ability to work well with others, to objectively achieve department goals

Demonstrated ability to handle various problems between teams simultaneously, taking appropriate actions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates Degree and knowledge of cash flows involving DI’s, BEP and other FRB’s and currency operations preferred 

Cash handling experience preferred

Experience using Microsoft Office suite

Equivalent education and or experience may be substituted for any of the above

WORK HOURS AND CONDITIONS:Monday - Friday working hours may vary, depending upon business necessity and direction from management, including overtime as required
